Products / DCX Modular Architecture |
In 1988 PMC introduced a revolutionary new architecture to the motion control industry with our DCX Modular motion and I/O control system. The DCX system is based on the concept of distributed process control in which the intelligent functions are distributed among components. The DCX system uses a modular building-block approach to motion control. The result is a flexible motion control platform that allows each control card to be optimally configured to meet the application requirements. This parallel-processing architecture allows motion and I/O functions to be added without performance degradation. The DCX product family consists of seven intelligent motion control motherboards for PCI-bus, VME-bus, ISA-bus and stand-alone applications. The DCX motion control system also includes more than 13 models of intelligent "plug-in" function modules for servo control, stepper control, extra I/O and serial or parallel communication for stand-alone applications. This modular architecture offers great flexibility to system integrators who can cost-effectively satisfy various different applications by simply re-configuring DCX function modules or motherboards as needed from project to project, and to OEM's who might manufacture several different machines. |
